Introduction

The Ministry of Education, through the Directorate of Higher Education, has made available some funds to support at least 50 young researchers who are studying for Master’s degrees in public institutions of higher education. The grants will be to the tune of K500, 000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Kwacha Only) per successful applicant. This letter seeks to call for research proposals from young researchers who may wish to benefit from the facility. The application package should include the following:

1. An application letter through the institution with a stamp on it
2. A complete Master’s degree proposal
3. A letter of support from the main supervisor

Kindly note that the grants are highly competitive. To be successful, a proposal must be in line with national development agenda as outlined in Government policy documents including NESIP 2020 – 2030, and Malawi 2063 ; be concise with total number of pages between 15 and 20 including references, work plan and budget; and must have clear:

2. Statement of the problem
3. Purpose of the study
4. Research questions/objectives
5. Significance of the study
6. Literature review
7. Methodology
8. Itemized budget (not payment for supervisors)
9. References
